SIX WEEKS AFTER EVLT FOR VARICOSE VEINS
This is a 56 year old Caucasian woman from Chatsworth, California, who presented with venous reflux or incompetence of her saphenous vein of the right leg. Although the venous incompetence in this patient originated at the groin level, the observed varicosities were worse at the lower leg level because of gravitational pooling in these veins. The after pictures represent the spontaneous improvement in the bulginess of these veins only six weeks following laser ablation (EVLT) of the saphenous vein up in the groin area. Additional direct treatment of the surface veins with microphlebectomy and/or sclerotherapy would give this patient more complete clearance.
